The IKABI History
On Wednesday, June 15 1955 in Jakarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Association of Surgeons and Anesthetists was founded. The element that drives the initiative to create the Indonesian Association of Surgeons and Anesthetists is the desire to channel the desire for a sense of unity among Surgeons & Anesthetists in Indonesia into one association, so that the sense of unity and the lives of Surgeons & Anesthetists are intelligent & full.
Creativity in the social field and in the field of science can be cultivated as well as possible so that it is maintained and continues to live in the hearts of every surgeon and anesthetist in Indonesia.
IKABI is based on divinity in the One Time, humanity, deliberation, justice, togetherness, equality and professionalism which is imbued with the doctor's oath and code of ethics Indonesian medicine.
Vision & Mission
With this basic conviction and belief, the Indonesian Association of Surgeons and Anesthetists was born. In order to implement and perfect these ideals, at the first Congress in Semarang which fell on June 1 1967, namely the day of the birth of Pancasila, the Surgeons and Anesthetists decided with unanimity to give it a new name, namely the Indonesian Association of Surgeons, abbreviated as IKABI.
In subsequent developments, Anesthesiologists have grown and formed their own organizations. Thus at the twelfth Congress in Surabaya, on July 9 1996, and continued with the spirit of togetherness in facing globalization, at the fourteenth Congress in Bali, on July 11 2002. Furthermore, with the enactment of Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 29, 2004 concerning Practices Medicine, the IKABI articles of association were revised at the nineteenth IKABI conference in Bali and in line with changes to the IDI AD/ART and the enactment of Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 20, 2013 concerning Indonesian Medical Education; then at the twenty-second IKABI conference in Padang, the Specialist Surgeons decided to amend the Articles of Association as follows.
Uniting all surgical specialists throughout Indonesia.
Maintain, foster, improve and encourage the development of surgical science and surgical technology in the broadest sense to be implemented to improve the health status of the Indonesian people
Integrating all the potential of specialist surgeons, increasing the honor, dignity, self-respect and surgical profession in Indonesia.
